With its unique design and 18” Multi-axial Carbon Fibre Diaphragm, it is considered by many as the ultimate musical subwoofer.

The Wilson Benesch Torus is a reference-grade "Infrasonic Generator" rather than a traditional subwoofer. Hand-built in Sheffield, UK, it features an ultra-lightweight carbon fibre diaphragm and a push-pull neodymium motor anchored by a 16kg steel core. Paired with its own dedicated external amplifier

The Torus incorporates fundamental rethinking on how bass should be generated. For the first time, world-class performance for music and home theatre is combined with huge power delivery, true subterranean frequencies and the capability of being upgraded in the future, all in a relatively small and elegant package!

Unlike standard subwoofers that require massive power and stiff suspensions to move heavy air, the Torus abandons the traditional cabinet structure for a purist, round-geometry design. This mechanical setup eliminates third-order non-linearities and allows the lightweight carbon fibre cone to move with extreme agility, achieving incredibly fast and tuneful low-frequency sound. The Torus goes somewhat deeper. Wilson-Benesch (realistically) rates it as down at around 18–20Hz,

Adding the Torus transforms the timing and integration of the instruments. The picked melody is more fluid, quicker and more sinuous, the snare more snappy and insistent, the space around the instruments much more apparent, with walls and a floor. Suddenly the music takes on a feeling of underlying urgency that dovetails perfectly with the lyrics.
