You can listen for hours without getting tired and when the evening falls, the tubes spread their special glow in the darkness.
The TRV-A300SE bass had authority without a trace of modesty or withholding. The sound was both powerful and tense. The same went for the lower midrange while the higher mids came more forward together with the highest frequencies, giving the sound more directness and liveliness. Instruments freed up in space without losing coherence while voices grew body, there was controlled slam to heighten the illusion that you could touch the music.
TRV-M300SE monoblocks have everything a mid-power tube amplifier can offer after all. They are a joy on the eyes and give glorious musical pleasure with a nice tube preamp. Twenty watts per channel allow use of loudspeakers from 90dB sensitivity upwards. [review

Thanks for the listen to the TRI-TRV M88SE Mono blocks, in the first instance when you remove them from their packing box, the pride and joy that must be experienced from the Japanese assembly plant on making these fantastic looking valve mono blocks, they are drop dead gorgeous and hard to fault with flawless workmanship.
The sound is much the same, clear clean and highs, as high as you want them, the bass is tight and full and can go down very low when asked of it but the midrange is where they held there magic for me with voices clear lush and clean.
I tried a bit of Nos tube rolling with the KT88s and 12ax7s but really did not improve much on what is already a beautiful built and sounding Valve amplifiers.

Review headline: Beaitifully made and sound great.
Review scoring:
Tone - 4.5/5 - Mid/High 4/5 - Attack 4/5 - Resolution 4/5 - Lanndscape 4/5 - Imaging 4/5 - Fit & Finish 5/5 - Self noise 5/5 - Value for money 5/5. An exceptional overall score at this price point!
Everything that I have seen, including all the external metalwork the wire tube cages the switches the tube sockets and all the connectors are first quality I don't see any signs of cost cutting.
The top end was wide open and the bass formed a perfect foundation for the musical performance. By that I mean they were transparent like some mega buck solid-state amplifier. Surprisingly clean and clear to the point that I struggled to find a hook to hang a description on..... nothing is hidden save the last octave of bass. From the mid bass on up to the limits of my hearing they are fast detailed and sing with a natural harmonic totality that lets you hear deep into the performance.....the midrange has the vitality and speed that can breath life into the performance..... the TRI Monoblock Amplifiers, if matched with efficient high-resolution loudspeakers, honor the sound of music with a crystal clear view of the performance.
This is a very modern example of a mid power AB1 tube design by Junichi Yamasaki pushing the limits of what is possible with today's technology. Beautiful amps beautifully made they sound great and they certainly merit your audition. [more]

Born to be alive
Introducing the Tri CD4SE player to its amplifying team-mate shifted the game to a new venue. This player features 24/192 upsampling and a valve in its output buffer for improved impedance matching. While an excellent unit in isolation, seldom have I head a source and amp combination from one manufacturer work so harmoniously together. They were very hard to fault, giving highly expressive accounts of everything they were fed. [review

Calmness and space remained the primary qualities but there was something extra. The sound had more body. As listeners, this made us much more involved with the tunes.
This TRV-CD4SE plus TRV-A300SE is a combination that is musical and involving.
You can listen for hours without getting tired and when the evening falls, the tubes spread their special glow in the darkness.
The TRV-CD4SE offers a lot of musical pleasure for everyone who likes a calm non-fatiguing digital front end. [review

Forum quote
"One player I have been auditioning over the last few days is the Tri CD4 SE. Now I'm not kidding but this is the most musical player I have ever heard! It's got a massive tastey sound stage with plenty of air, its neutral to slightly warm for those cold winter nights, and it can dance very fast when asked to! The build quality is excellent and it comes with balanced connections as well. If anyone is looking for a musical, nicely balanced (sonically), with excellent PRaT, this valve CD player should be auditioned. You won't find anything about it on the net cause it's only just been released."

The Tri system showed the difference between the discs instantly, but it did also show the similarities: dense atmosphere and incredibly silky, but also detailed drawing of the instruments.
If we place it next to devices of the same price level, then everything will fade.
In general it can be said, that we get a Japanese tube device (I am talking about both devices) with incredibly well led sound, nice looks and a headphone amplifier for free. If this is not enough, then this is your problem, and not mine… [more]

However they might be compromised, we continue to rely on valves in hi-fi because, at their best, they are just a little more alive than the alternative. Tri’s 35SE and CD4SE are about back-to-basics two-channel audio, so if your system has to have multi-room, multi-channel, multi-media compatibility, never mind. This combination is worthy of consideration by everyone wearying of the anaemic or fussy performance of their solid-state hardware, and those who want the indispensable discs in their collection to be as arresting as when they were first heard. Bass was a standout. Low frequencies were firm and well controlled; not a bit sloppy or loose. And even in the large room, there was plenty of it....excellent soundstage which was nicely deep and wide..
The 35SE adores male and female singers.....
I was able to pick out and follow different lines and phrases of the multiple choirs, drums, African percussion, oboe, strings and others fairly easily.
What amp did the Triode replace, a Conrad Johnson. I think that probably says more than anything I could write in a review.
leading me to believe that Mr. Yamazaki’s design balance was well conceived.
The inclusion of a good quality headphone circuit is a definite plus.
The Triode TRV-35SE has an expensive look and feel that belies its modest price.

TRI's designers must have agreed with me because their idea of this reddish color used for transformers casings in most of their products gives them always an advantage above other products – TRI devices look just fantastic! These black tube „cages” are also very nice looking and practical too. So when I looked at such a nicely looking device I automatically expected a nice sound and … I wasn't disappointed. From the very first moment I knew I was listening to a high quality SET amplifier. My listening sessions happened in a difficult time for all Polish people (April 2010) so when I came back to the listening after couple of days I listened also to a different music than usually but no matter what music I used, it was always a high quality sound.
Already mentioned musicality that I understand as ability to present music in very liquid, effortless, natural way is a huge advantage of TRV-845SE. Another pros are: great soundstaging – width is exceptional, depth and layering are very good...precise phantom images placing – all these features imply realistic, natural sounding music. Another great advantage of TRI is timbre – in most cases very close to the natural of particular instrument or voice.
Never before have I noticed how wonderfully were the cymbals recorded. To be honest when listening in this setup I focused totally on natural, lively, colorful sounding cymbals only – and there really was no sign of any softening.
Choirs – no problem – high resolution allows to appreciate them as a set of many different voices.
Changes of dynamics – from piano to forte – again, no problem.
Whatever TRV-845SE had to present it did it in an effortless way, very natural and almost neutral – almost as it usually added a bit of beauty to each recording making it maybe not perfectly neutral but surely much more enjoyable. But it never “crossed the line” so the sound didn't get to sweet. [more]
