Code: AR PR DPA 300S
Arcus Incantare Digital Power Amplifier 200w@8ohm 1xXLR, 1xRCA
The digital amplifier DPA 300 is an arcus development, which enables the full use of all advantages of the digital technology. With the DPA 300 the arcus audioserver DAR 300 gets a fitting playmate: Witness the cooperation of two digital specialists.

Here are the main features of the DPA 300: The feedback signal is directly taken away from the outlet connections of the amplifier – including the outlet filter in the loop control – and thus abolishes the influence of the filters on the audio capacity. Advantages are many: an extremely low output resistance, load operation not depending on any impedance and the missing of an acoustic filter, so there is no limitation of the output rating and duration in higher frequencies.
The feedback loop of the arcus DPA 300 is proportional to the audio frequencies, so we can achieve an excellent audio performance spanning the whole audio range. Furthermore there is no active (linear), analogue amplification in the arcus DPA 300. All active moduls on the signal transfer work in the on- off-modus. Also the feedback loop only consists of passive elements, thus an interference with the performance is avoided leading to an absolute transparency in music quality.

The power adaptor is often seen as an object of utility, with voltage and electricity as main topics. In our eyes a power adapter is much more: It influences the security, reliability, durability and the power of the whole unit! – The adapter of our DPA 300 can deal with peak performance keeping up a constant and solid output voltage with full charge within milliseconds. This combination guarantees a very solid output voltage and a superb performance under demanding dynamic audio charges.

ProMonitor 800 Satellites—the heart of a spectacular Home Theater speaker system
The ProMonitor 800 is Definitive’s “Better” satellite speaker in the acclaimed Pro Series. Four ProMonitor 800s along with a ProCenter 1000 and ProSub 800 makes a complete ProCinema 800 system. All the components of the system are packed and sold separately allowing you to mix and match Pro Series components to build the system that best suits your needs.

Don’t let the ProMonitor 800’s small size and affordable price fool you—it is a remarkably sophisticated product with huge sound. The 800 incorporates many of the same technologies as Definitive’s top-of-the-line models including BDSS drivers, pure aluminum dome tweeters, and planar pressure coupled mid/bass radiators for home theater sound quality that will shock your friends and family when they hear your system for the first time.

The Secret to Their Big Sound
Competing satellite speakers of this size usually have weak lower-midrange response; that part of the audio range that contains the ‘warmth” and “body” of voices and musical instruments. Listen to a male vocal on typical small satellite speakers and you will instantly hear what we mean. The ProMonitor satellites avoid this critical problem by pressure-coupling our exclusive BDSS technology driver to an equal-sized mid/bass radiator cleverly placed on the top of the satellite. This technique doubles the lower-midrange radiating area of the speaker without increasing the size of the enclosure. You’ll enjoy the kind of rich, warm and life-like sound quality that you thought was only possible with big, hard to place speakers.

Easy to Place, Easy to Use
Small enough to disappear in a room but beautiful when in plain view the 800 satellites can be shelf-mounted with their unique tri-lobed base, wall-mounted using the built-in keyhole mount or optional ProMount 80 articulating pivot mounts or stand mounted with their optional ProStand 600/800 floor stands.

The Sound
Sonically, the ProMonitor 800 satellite is a revelation in terms of achieving incredible sound at an affordable price. Their imaging is absolutely boxless, spacious and three dimensional while delivering pinpoint specificity and localization when called for. They are velvety smooth with you-are-there presence which is hard to find at any price and unheard of in this price range. The 800 is dynamic but capable of great subtlety so it excels equally with music or movies.

I recently sold my house and included my Bose Acoustimass 10 speaker system with the media room. I researched for many days and even considered buying another Bose set. After looking at CNET reviews (Bose was not listed in the top 10), I decided to buy the Pro Cinema 800 set. I bought all the speakers seperately (no cost savings buying the package). The satellites are a lot bigger than the Bose satellites and this helps them reproduce a fuller spectrum of sound. The sound coming from the Pro 800 are more rich and full. On the top is a passive radiator that works in tandem with the woofer to help radiate lower frequencies (these speakers are acoustically suspended). The stand on the bottom is removable and there is an included plug to cover the mounting hole if you are mounting them on wall mounts (each speaker weighs about 4 pounds). The back has binding post connectors with banana conntor receptacle (female). These speakers definitely out perform my old Bose Acoustimass 10 speaker set and cost about the same. For the money, you can't go wrong with this set.

Pros:
- High gloss finish
- Quality construction
- Passive radiator
- Rich crisp sound
- Included stand

Very satisfied with the sound of these small speakers, and I would consider myself a very discerning audiophile. I combined them with the Pro Sub 800 for a wonderful sound in my home-office. If you listen to classical music, this set-up delivers fantastic value for sound.

I bought a pair of these to replace some Polk Audio surrounds, and all I can say is wow. I was totally blown away with the sound that these can reproduce clear and precise. They are a little bright for a few hours until they are broken in though. I have them matched up with a Denon 2809ci, 2 Klipsch VF35's and a C3 center and the sound, both home theater and music, is absolutely incredible.

Norwegian magazine “Hjemmekino:
Translated highlights of the review from the Norwegian magazine “Hjemmekino:

“The KATANA has a magical resolution, and during the testing I often heard details I never have heard with my own reference Tannoy Glennair 15 speakers”

“The KATANA has an “electrostatic openness…..”

“The loudspeakers have an amazing ability to disappear in the soundfield. The sound comes from all angles, and it is impossible to detect where the speakers are placed”

“I am blown away by how much air that can be moved by a single 7”. The KATANA plays both jazz and hard rock with ease, and does it brilliantly…”

"The Gemme Audio KATANA sounds at least as good as they look, and that says a lot…..”
Gemme Denmark agent quote :
Here is what the agent in Denmark says about the show where he presented the Katana: "Among Martin Logan, Dynaudio, Sonus Faber and other high end products, we got statements like: "Katana is the only high end loudspeaker on this show", "The soundstage and details are much better in place than on the other speakers"," A very good and pleasant bass" and much more."

Gilles Thibodeau - Association Montréalaise des Audiophiles
Starting with its unique shape, with smooth angles near the tweeter, the Katana offers a very spacious soundstage. Dressed in a luxurious black dress, with a multi-layer piano lacquer, it shines like a real gem (no pun intended...!

The Katana is in a class by itself, reproducing music with ease and natural. I rediscovered music I had enjoyed so many times, hearing details I did not hear on other loudspeakers. They are lively, lightning fast, nimble, and every music genre is played with out of the ordinary fullness. They completely disappear to present a solid three dimensional image where each instrument is clearly located. They offer deep bass without any vibrations or resonances, with a warm and accurate medium, and crystal clear highs, never becoming aggressive. Finally, we could easily recognize the tone color of all instruments heard during the session.

Jazz, Rock, Pop, Classical Music,... music flows and we are charmed to hear no coloration, but instead an incredible neutrality which lets the Katana play any kind of music with great distinction!

TANTO - VFlex Loudspeakers
Tanto means “a lot” in Italian". This name seems quite appropriate for loudspeakers that can reproduce the lowest notes of a pipe organ, and fill a small auditorium with vivid sound without ever loosing their composure.

Tanto are 1.5 way full range loudspeakers, featuring a 16.5 cm mid/bass driver and a 19 mm Ring Radiator Tweeter. The main driver does not use any crossover, while a single capacitor is used with the high frequency driver unit. Since the mid/bass driver is directly connected to the amplifier, and totally covers the bass and medium range (from 20 to 5000 Hz), TANTO speakers are actually full-range designs with high frequency augmentation.

TANTO loudspeakers can withstand many hundreds of watts without stressing, never sounding aggressive. They will be be the perfect companions to high power, quality solid state amps.

Using VFlex loading, Tanto reproduce live music with incredible accuracy and with an uncanny sense of "being there". Their soundstage and imaging is equal to the best, achieving headphone resolution, making you literally "hear the room".

Tanto loudspeakers will load all but the biggest room sizes, and truly offer a hair-raising musical experience

....prodigious levels of bass are available ....with a frequency response curve flat all the way down to 20Hz... reaching even the bass pedal notes....The Tanto not only reaches those notes, but produces prodigious volumes of air, moving me to emulate the organist's feet in lock step and sing harmony to boot....The Tanto's rendition of the Prelude in A Minor beggars belief that so much sound can come from such a small box....I much admire the Tanto's way with male voices in particular...The Ranger cannot match the Tanto in portraying the slow decay of harmonics that real instruments often display....The Tanto's strengths include a very wide frequency response, good imaging, rich colour and warmth...."The Ranger cannot match the Tanto in portraying the slow decay of harmonics that real instruments often display."

If you are looking for tonal accuracy, micro-dynamics, proper decay of notes, ... About ambiance, air and transparency, our loudspeakers will give you these in spades. Listening to a pair of TANTO will certainly convince you.

To say that I enjoyed the sound of the Tanto speakers would be an understatement. Each time I listened to them, I was glued to my chair for longer periods of time.During extended listening sessions - even at louder volume levels - my ears never felt fatigued....
These relatively small enclosures were actually capable of some respectably deep and accurate bass....The Tantos handled musical dynamics very well....I found the Tantos to be capable of producing a natural sound, which made symphonic music flow effortlessly and with finesse....they offered what I would call a natural amount of detail....The truth is that the Tanto speakers managed to go impressively low for their size of cabinets.

The cabinets have more curves than a Victoria Secrets fashion show – and they all line up perfectly. Every single external part has beautiful bevels and cambers, flutes and sound shaping architecture down to the smallest detail.... The Tanto is the most unboxy box I have ever inspected. The intricacy of the design is amazing.... “I love the way they look. They are slim and unimposing and the real wood sides are gorgeous”, reports Linda...... The bass is taught, accurate and extends fairly deeply into the substrata.... To tell you the truth, as impressive as was the bass, the Tanto’s other characteristics were even more impressive....Linearity - The sound spectrum was completely seamless from low to high....Speed - Very fast... Transients and leading edges of plucked and struck instruments showed no latency....Dynamics - Dynamics were excellent....Detail - A good balance, there is plenty of detail but it is not etched, spot lit or overemphasized....The highest praise I can give a speaker is that they consistently convince me that I am not listening to them. In that regard, the Gemme Audio Tanto deserves my highest praise....I have listened to stereo systems at all price point up to $500,000. I have never heard a speaker that throws a significantly better soundstage - including Quads....The Tanto’s are very much in Wilson Watt/Puppy territory in this regard. If I were buying them – even at half price – I’d take the Tanto....these very sophisticated, refined and elegant speakers will play LOUD!...The Gemme Audio Tanto speaker easily qualifies for our Max Mojo Award.... This is a first class speaker from a first class company....congratulations and welcome to the world of high-end audio.

Sometimes things happen that seem to defy the very laws of physics. Like the new single driver Vivace loudspeakers from Gemme Audio. Using a single 4" full-range driver, Vivace loudspeakers cover the frequency range from 20 to 20,000 Hertz. No other single-cone loudspeaker can accomplish this level of performance, regardless of size or cost.

The incredibly full-bodied, tight and articulate bass output is only part of the story, since Vivace use the highly acclaimed Fostex FE108E Sigma driver, which delivers stunning clarity, single point source and coherent sound field. Best of all you won't need to wrestle with fridge size speakers to get that kind of performance since all this is packaged in a room-friendly 1,5 cu ft. mini tower enclosure.

Vivace loudspeakers are engineered to perform admirably in rooms ranging from 100 to 200 square feet. Power handling is the Fostex recommended 24 watts, but the tight control VFlex exerts on the cones makes them capable to sustain much more power. Sensitivity is a respectable 92 db, which combined with a benign 8 ohm load makes them happy with SET tube amps, as well as with more powerful transistor amps.

The Vivace's replicate the scale, image, texture and dynamics of real musicians as well as, and in most cases better, in a cozy room than any other speaker. I have had the privilege of seeing and hearing many, many small speakers in either mini towers or stand mount monitors. I have had lots of them in The Small Room. I think I can say categorically that the Gemme Audio Vivace is THE speaker for those who want to hear a full-range sound in a small to medium room.

I studied and played Schubert’s Piano Sonata in B Flat Major. The third movement is entitled “Allegro Vivace con Delicatezza” which means its performance, tempo and interpretation should be “cheerful, brisk and lively but with delicacy”. I think Schubert would have liked the Gemme Vivace’s, though once having hear them he might have added “Con brio” or “with vigor or fire” to the "Vivace" descriptor.

....the cabinet structure is an engineering marvel. There simply is not a parallel, flat surface to be found. Everywhere you look are curves, grooves and slants to eliminate internal resonances, energy loss and standing waves. The extreme attention to detail is very apparent and indicative of the lengths to which Gemme goes to build a superior product. The fact that they accomplished all that and still managed to make the cabinets modern and very attractive is amazing. I have never seen anything quite like Gemme Audio cabinet design. The attention to even micro detail is incredible and highly admirable as every design nuance is there to make sure the sound is as pure as possible.

I hooked up the Vivace’s to a Japanese TRI-TRV A300SE 300B 2x8w integrated amp (sold by ARC Hi-Fi). The sound the combo made did resemble that of a beautiful, delicate butterfly; a Japanese butterfly at that....the little Gemme's is their ability to utterly disappeared....throws a huge, transparent soundstage that is limited only by the height, depth and width of the room – far beyond the speaker’s boundaries. It’s almost spooky....acoustic bass was fully realized, deep, woody and sonorous. Each note’s difference in pitch and “pluck” was easy to discern.

It would be an understatement to say these speakers played it “correctly”. The Gemme’s acquitted themselves well, wonderfully delineating each note of Garson’s Oscar Peterson type two-fisted runs and almost infinitely long phrases. Later, when the bass and drums enter, they are depicted perfectly with the drummer well in back and to the right of the right speaker. The prominent bass lines are easy to follow and the depth of the acoustic bass is fully present. The Gemme's sound big and render the piano in a very realistic manner from bottom to top- or at least close to the top. WHile the piano's upper registers are clean and detailed, a slight rolloff can be detected, but it does not seem to detract from the overall presentation which is very vivacious and most importantly - very musical.

Of course, because of the claimed low frequency range, I had to play some pipe organ recordings. Result? Almost miraculously, in that small room on those diminutive floor standing speakers, the low register of pipes were there.

The Vivace's do not handle great amounts of power - and that is exactly the intent of the design. They are designed to perform in small rooms with low to moderate output amplification.

As such, awarding them our STEREOMOJO MAXIMUM MOJO AWARD is a no-brainer. Congratulations to Robert Gaboury and Jean-Pierre Boudreau for another outstanding speaker.

INNER WORLD AUDIO AND 6MOONS MEET THE VIVACE
Kari Nevalainen has seen many loudspeaker designs using small Fostex drivers, but his encounter with the VIVACE reserved him quite a surprise:
"I didn't measure it but I wouldn't preclude that, in room, this speaker is capable of hitting bass notes as low as 20Hz with reasonable amplitude, amazing as that must sound."

"The sound was smooth, clear, coherent and of reasonably correct timbres. This unproblematic nature of the midrange's three octaves is what always makes it so much fun to listen to 4" Fostex drivers and the Vivace proved no exception."

"...it's clear that the cabinet construction of the Vivace is not merely a flashy luxury but a prerequisite for creating ideal operation conditions for the tiny driver."

" One of the Vivace's strengths must be its well-developed soundstage....also it can absorb and release the big waves of heavy metal and massive orchestral music.

BEST SPEAKER AWARD:
Not only is this a new speaker for 2007, but a new company as well. The Gemme Audio Tanto is an outstanding speaker in every regard.

Its stunning, quality low end performance, reaching down below 30Hz, from a driver that is only 6.5" is a remarkable achievement and worthy of kudos.

But there is much more to the Tanto that makes it an easy choice for "Best New Speaker" for 2007.

The bottom line: The Music Hall MMF-5's high-style flair and impressive features are surpassed only by its sumptuous sound.

The only downsides to listening to records is the inevitable let down when you have to go back to compressed digital music. (CDs) The Music Hall MMF-5 may cost more than the Goldring GR 1.2 and much more than the entry-level Sony PS-LX250H, but it provides a much clearer sound than those two turntables and amazingly better quality than the best CD players.

The Music Hall MMF-5 offers fine levels of detail and quietness. It has warm, deep, slightly woolly bass but deep with good impact, remarkably honest midrange and fast, articulate treble performance that errs, ever so slightly, to the brighter side of natural. But at a retail price of NZ$750, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to conclude that the MMF-5 represents one hell of a value.

Almost everything has been said about the SPA 22 in our time listening in stereo. For power dynamics, analysis and musicality, the transition from two to five channels does not alter its character of super-natural simplicity but it also sounds wild and muscular when the material demands. In addition, and this is important to clarify, the processing of multichannel signals is exceptional thanks to its extraordinary conversion circuits and amplification.
Germany, Heimkino
From the first beat and the first film scene, the SPA22 becomes your musical soul and it will enchant you with little goose bumps when the sound is subtle and also when the might of its amplifier delivers a thunderous screen action experience.

Conclusion:
No speaker is perfect at price ranges anywhere near the asking price of the Sadhana. If it can do wonders with at-least 80 percent of the music you listen to, it is most definitely worth it.
This is a world class example of single driver full range sound. And it is there in your neighborhood to check out.

Rethm website selection
Rethm is a relatively young audio equipment design and manufacturing company started in 1998 by a couple of Los Angeles based audiophile music-lovers, who are architects by profession. Having failed in their search for “soul-satisfying” loudspeakers – at real world prices – their innovative instincts (and training) convinced them that they had an opportunity here: to create something special by “thinking out of the box” (!).

Given their connections with India, manufacturing was set up offshore so that they could bring to the music-lover a series of components that were extremely high quality but bereft of the stratospheric prices that normally accompany high-end audio components.

Rethm, which takes its name from the Sanskrit word for harmony, is an especially interesting case.

The Rethm Saadhana may be the perfect loudspeaker for audiophiles who want the presence, immediacy, and musicality that the best low-power amplifiers are known for, but who don't want to give up the "sound staging" that most of us associate with high-end audio in the more traditional sense. The pair of them had some of the best, most convincing image placement and wholeness I've heard from a SET-friendly speaker, not to mention wonderful stage width, depth, even height.

The Saadhana's ability to convey human touch was also noteworthy—Thurston Dart's harpsichord continuo became more than just sonic wallpaper, catching and holding my attention more effectively than usual—and its pacing was faultless.

Concluding a long review which unwound in various chapters, Rethm's Saadhana now joins ....as the highest relaxed-resolution devices I have in my stable of reviewer tools and pleasure machines.....when it comes to high fidelity as in, retrieving the tiniest of details while keeping the listening fun and compelling rather than anal-and-analitical, the Saadhanas presently take the crown in Casa Coral Bay.

For that and everything else already mentioned, this latest incarnation now deserves an award, wholly and unreservedly. This is a spectacular speaker.

Also -- and this will only be relevant to the obscure cadre of Lowther freaks -- it is a landmark achievement for a Lowther that's run wide open and uncut. After exactly one decade of ongoing obsessive work with this transducer, Jacob George has finally liberated it, truly and fully. Whoa, wow and well done. Over and out!

quote from Linda
This is easily the prettiest room and system. Very contemporary but not over the edge.Speakers completely disappear with a very expansive soundstage....best bass I've heard in a horn speaker that looks as good as it sounds....I could see that in our house. Some of the best sound I've heard in New York and the prices are not at all outrageous.
Michael Lavorgna
The quest to get a Lowther driver to lose its shout and work seamlessly with a powered subwoofer should be on the list of holy grails. Since we've knocked sequencing of the human genome off, I hold out hope for Jacob George and Rethm although I didn't get a good-enough listen to the new Saadhana to know how close they've come.
SonicFlare - Sandy Greene - Home & Ent show report.
Having read a lot of show reports featuring and lauding the Rethm speakers, I sat down to listen with high expectations and I wasn’t disappointed. First of all, I think their product design is tops in the speaker class. These speakers are beautiful objects....the sound was very full and musical...one of the better sounding rooms of the show.
Dagogo - Jack Roberts New York Home & Ent show report
The Rethm...room was another place I just wanted to sit and listen to music....they were very successful in New York. Their new speaker, is not quite as huge and sounded more full range than the older bigger speakers..... The sound of Vinyl to SET to well-done single-driver speakers done right sure produces a sound that makes me smile and tap my toes.

The Triangle Heyda EX loudspeakers are surround units that have been designed to be used in multi-channel arrays, no matter whether we're talking about Heydas as rear left/right channels or in rear center position. These speakers pack a lot of technology and offer a very good sound, yet sell for affordable prices despite their heritage.

The Triangle Heyda EX are rather small enclosures meant for placement in almost any corner of your home with ease and minimal fuss: you will be able to instantly mount them on walls with the supplies brackets. At the same time, they come with a neat, unobtrusive design that would fit in almost any room décor without further changes being needed. The curved front baffle ensures no diffraction will affect the sound while offering a more noble look as well.

The 2-way sealed enclosures are made from wood with enhanced strutting for less vibrations; the drivers are affixed to the front baffle by means of rings (the bass/midrange) and a small frontplate in the case of the soft-dome tweeter. TheTriangle Heyda EX works with the same impedance as the rest of the EX loudspeakers so matching them with pretty much any amplifier around the house will be a trouble-free task.

These nifty cabinets will fit in almost any home décor as they come in real wood cherry veneer. The front grilles are removable while the performance specs make these loudspeakers a neat choice for a small to medium size room: 60W power handling with 120W max peaks and serious 91dB sensitivity, all in a 100-20,000Hz frequency range.

They remain clear at all volumes and are beautifully made and looking.... just the upgrade we were looking for.

HIFI Choice
the Quartet was noteworthy for the sense of true authority that it brought to the party.

Fine dynamic expression, further contributes to the vividness and realism of its musical performance....The bass end is clean, dry and even....it shows decent speed and freedom from overhang....Voices are very communicative....Likewise the top end is clean, incisive and detailed....Imaging and coherence are both thoroughly competentT

The Quartet delivers a fully competitive all round sound quality, but in one notable respect is streets ahead of the pack. Provided the partnering amplifier has good current capability, this speaker has a substantial advantage in loudness. Not only through its higher sensitivity, but also the substantial power handling advantage of its three-way multi-driver array.

The list of strong suits for the Cello includes articulation, articulation, articulation (the real estate equivalent of location); fantastic decays and hall sound; very well damped 'fast' bass with great pitch definition; and related to it all, a sense of speed. The general sound thus remains of the lively energetic sort. It's deliberately spiked to promote excitement while very high intelligibility contributes to a sense of great visibility

Soundstage lovers into high sorting and exactitude will appreciate the Cello's mastery of that domain and Naimies who cue up a Jazz or Swing record to tap the heel and bop the head should too.

Compared to Burmester's AMTs as repeatedly heard during trade shows for example, Triangle's treble quality is far more silky.

...the Cello is sonically sophisticated, more Gallic of charm than the quintessentially American bass buster.

This is a very dialed and refined speaker from appearance to performance which makes a particularly fine match with powerful 100-watt valve amplifiers endowed with linearity and drive.
