Stereo Times @ CES 2012 with Triode's new TRX- M845 SE Mono blocks

The Acoustic Zen Crescendo loudspeakers sounded incredible driven by the new TRX-M845SE from Triode Corp.

The TRX-M845SE monoblocks incorporated the 845 in a parallel single-ended Class-A design. It has an auto bias, weigh about 125 lbs each and uses one 6SN7 and one 12AU7 as an input stage. It produces a glorious 50 watts of pure Class-A.

A TRX-1 tube pre-amplifier with remote control was used and the new TRV-CD5SE tube CD player, up-samples to 24/192 with a choice of tube (6922x2) or solid-state output.

Stereo Times 2011 Publishers Choice Award for BSG Technologies Qol signal processor now in stock.

A signal-processor of sorts that's designed to "restore phase anomalies" in audio signals. Inserted between ones preamp and power amp, admittedly, I was skeptical considering all the newer "enhancers" that work independent of ones components. However, I like the open, airy sensation the QOL delivers and find it also very transparent in that I didn't notice any negative effects from its insertion between my components (review in the works Clement Perry).

The Cambridge 751BD has won a prestigious EISA award for Universal player of the year 2011.

For those of you not familiar with EISA, it is an association of 50 technology magazines from 19 European countries, which gathers once a year to choose the best products in selected Consumer Electronics categories.

Whilst one review is simply the opinion of one magazine or publication, an EISA award is the combined opinion of 50 publications, which really does make this award something that you can trust and stand behind.

the sound in this room was uncolored and extended at both frequency extremes, revealed by a superb recording of a female singer accompanied by a double bass

I have never been a fan of transmission-line speakers. My experience has been that too often resonant problems in the line color the speaker's upper bass. But I didn't hear any such problems with the Acoustic Zen Crescendo speakers (US$16,000/pair), seen here with designer Robert Lee. The Crescendo combines two 5" midrange units with magnesium-impregnated paper cones placed either side of a horn-loaded tweeter with two 8" woofers that use ceramic-coated "non-pressed" paper cones, these loaded with a transmission line venting at the speaker's base.

The Inevitability of Cable by Steven Stone

 Audiophile Review.com

Every audiophile who uses cables or wire to connect stuff together probably has mixed feelings about it. Even if the only wire in your entire system is the one that connects it to the AC mains, that cable choice can have an affect on the overall sound of a stereo system. What a drag, another sonic variable.
