GRADIENT ANNOUNCE A UNIQUE STACKED SUBWOOFER SYSTEM FOR THE QUAD ESL-63 & ESL-988/989 at CES 2013

Independent Finnish Loudspeaker Manufacturer is back with with new range of specially tuned dipole subwoofers for Electrostatic speakers. All new scale of product for various implementations for those, who like their ESL’s a bit more bassy

Gradient SW-S and SW-D is based on the same dipole technique as the original SW-63 which physically fits only the ESL-63 serving at the same time as a stand. Gradient SW-S consists of two 12" long throw custom made woofers. Actually it is the bass section of the Gradient Revolution loudspeaker. When stacked as in the picture you get the SW-D (double pair). Dual dipole subwoofers specifically designed for larger Quad and panel speakers. Four 12" long throw custom made woofers increase the bass capacity and extend the lower cutoff frequency to 20Hz.

For playback you need a pair of units, one for each channel, an active crossover and two power amplifiers. Usually single units (SW-S) will do but in big rooms a stacked pair will help. The main benefit over the SW-63 is the possibility to rotate the bass sections to direct the dipole bass radiation. This helps to obtain the most uncolored bass with minimum effects of standing waves in the listening room.

Together with the new Gradient High End crossover this system will reach the most realistic level of performance.

The units are available with solid cherry wood parts or ash, black or white painted ash plywood parts. Cloth options are black, brown, white or light gray. In addition to the standard finishes, Gradient SW-D may be customized with a huge variety of options. In total 20 different high quality fabrics and multiple real wood veneers allow personalized speakers for every taste.

The height of a stacked system is 1450mm.
