GigaWatt

Considered the BEST and MOST ADVANCED Hi-Fi Power Conditioners & Power cords - from Poland

"In the opinion of specialist audio magazines the devices from GigaWatt are among the best in the world, both in terms of effectiveness and manufacturing quality, and even surpass the standards used in the branch setting new masters. This statement is confirmed by many reviews and prestigious awards given to GigaWatt products".
The combination of passion and many years of experience in constructing power devices gained in Power Audio Laboratories was used to design novel concepts, new projects and unique technological solutions. Most materials and components used in the company products are made by the company or according to proprietary specifications. GigaWatt quickly gained a reputation of a brand, which has exquisitely made products, best components and competitive pricing. However the products of that brand are mostly admired for their spectacular influence on the sound and picture reproduced by devices powered by them, at the same time protecting the audio-video devices from noise and surges.

The extensive offering of the company is aimed at the most demanding users of audio and video systems, both in the HI-END and HI-FI segments. The products of GigaWatt are appreciated not only in the home country, where they already have a well-established position, but also internationally, especially all over Europe, Asia, North America and Australia. The dynamic growth of the company is also reflected in the presence on international and domestic shows and fairs.

"We are happy to announce, that two systems powered by GigaWatt conditioners, won the "BEST SOUND OF SHOW“ award, on the Axpona show 2019.  The prizes were awarded by the renown AVShowrooms and Positive Feedback Audio Oasis".

We cordially invite you to get acquainted with GigaWatt products

GigaWatt was founded in 2007 by Adam Schubert – an electronics engineer and audio passionate. However the roots of the company reach the year 1998, when a small company, Power Audio Laboratories was created. That company dealt with power filtration, and Adam Schubert was its co-founder and main constructor.
The immediate cause for the founding of the company was insufficient availability of high quality power accessories, that would satisfy the highest expectations of the clients. A detailed analysis of the marked showed, that similar products coming from competitors are often priced too high compared to their effectiveness and manufacturing quality.

Passion for music, together with an ongoing aspiration for perfect sound and picture, were the inspiration to start research on impact of power noise on function of audio-video gear. However combining the hobby with commercial activity required a substantial increase of technical knowledge in a very narrow expertise field.

Many months of education, laborious observations and analysis of measurements resulted in creating a solid basis for creating technological documentation and starting a small series, but repeatable manufacturing. The prototype of the first power conditioner, which was first designed to protect a private system, quickly gained appreciation among closest friends.

The turning point was the Audio Show 2002, which made the company become wider known on the audio market. Enthusiastic reception by clients intensified the work towards further growth of the company and increasing of production capabilities. A direct consequence of this was the separation of the research centre from the construction part and creation of an autonomic brand – GigaWatt.

The PF-1e strip is recommended above all to people for whom the priority is to protect audio-video devices, but also to improve the quality of sound and image.”

REVIEW SUMMARY: “The power strip GigaWatt PF-1e has a positive effect on the sound quality of the stereo system and even the TV picture. This is noticeable enough and you can get used to it so quickly that after a few days, returning to power the system straight from the socket, you will feel the discomfort enough that you will quickly want to return to power using the PF-1e. The desired effect can be obtained with the version equipped with the company’s LC-1 MK3 power cable, and the LC-2 MK3 cable will bring even bigger changes. “And finally the power. I am writing about it last not because it’s the least – it is exactly the opposite, I will discuss it in a moment – but because individual products must be chosen after the system is completed. It should help the system, and not mask its flaws and shortcomings. It was a simple task to choose the power strip – I use the PF-2 GigaWatt in my system for a long time, so I chose its younger brother, the model PF-1. The strip comes with a nice power cable, the LC-1. And it was a no-brainer to order four of those cables, allowing the computer type cables, coming with the devices, to power for example… a computer. You could move slower, start playing with stock cables, and then proceed to upgrade the system with the LC-1.”

“Differences in class between the recordings are clear, the system does not slow anything down, but do not dominate the sound. I can tell from my experience, that such a compromise, and audio is art of compromise (as its marriage), is very well chosen. Breathtaking results are achievable, even when we know the flaws of such a combination, and that it can be done better. So again, the basic system sounds just like that.”

LISTENING IMPRESSIONS
“An inexpensive power strip effectively protects the equipment and does not mess-up the sound is a finding worth your attention. And this is how the PF-1 is. It gives the feeling of being protected, while not diminishing the dynamics and resolution of the sound.”

“The music had the same amount of energy, the snare drum hit decidedly, and the details were not filtered out. PF-1 is worth being recommended. Not because it improves anything, but because it does not take anything away from the music. Aren’t you sure, you will achieve that? Please connect your gear to a computer strip, and you will find it out quickly enough.”

CONCLUSION
“A further Polish product worth recommending. And this is only the beginning of the line of power products by GigaWatt.”

“A power strip is bare necessity in case of most systems. And if we already use one, it should be of good quality, what does not necessary mean expensive. The power strip (the basic model) from the Zgierz based GigaWatt is exactly like described, and it received a result bashing its competitors – 60% (the highest result in our plebiscite).

It has a built-in over-current protection (up to 20kA) and is being delivered with the LC-1 power cable bundled, It is a piece of solid workmanship, both in electrical and mechanical terms.

Internal connections are made by means of thick rails made from pure copper. Due to that solution it does not limit the quality of sound, its dynamics, transparency or saturation of timbres.

The weaker results of competitors are a result of a tendency visible on the market – high interest in power accessories.”

“One of the cheapest ways known to us of breeding power sockets, which does not cause any degradation of the sound compared to the wall socket. Even more, this basic power strip from the Lodz based company GigaWatt included in the package, worth 200 EUR.

Despite the relatively low price, the PF-1 has a very solid electric and mechanical construction. Internal connections are made with thick metal rails, rather than thin cables. Due to this, the sound does not loose any dynamics or transparency, while the timbres become more pleasing and richer.

We have to pay more for a product of that class coming from Western manufacturers. Those, who laugh and do not believe, while using a cheap computer strip, should try this one. A shock is guaranteed.”

“A look at the power strip reveals, that it is made from precisely bent steel sheets, less thick than the Ener. This means also lower weight, but not lesser manufacturing quality, which is very good.”

“Our appreciation goes to the very solid packaging and well made operating manual – elements, which, for many other Polish products, leave much to be desired, or are even disappointing.”

SOUND
“ Placing the PF-1 with the LC-1 cable in the system resulted in a more subtle presentation of timbres (…)”

“For sure this power strip does not impoverish the palette of timbres, which were richest among the tested three units. This is accompanied with good precision and well reproduced details, while not over-exposing the latter. The lower frequencies are somewhat thickened, which adds monumentality to the sound.”

“Concluding, the PF-1 is an excellent choice for systems with a thinned and sharpened sound. But only for those. The interference with the sound is not big, and easily accepted. At the price you have to pay for the GigaWatt PF-1 it is really a bargain.”

PRO’s and CON’s
“Pro’s – impeccable sound, very diligent workmanship, attractive pricing, LC-1 cable included in the package. Con’s – at this price – none!”

CONCLUSION
“It cannot pass unnoticed, that given the price performance (and workmanship) relationship, especially the GigaWatt PF-1 stands out. Taking into account the price of the power cable, which must be purchased separately for the other strips, it comes at half the price of the competitors.” “This means, that for every zloty spent on the PF-1 we get the most and best sound. And in addition the protection of our valuable gear.”

“The cheapest power strip PF-1 is the ideal solution for all, who want to get good results, while not investing too much money in the power chain.”

“We devoted quite some time to really test the abilities of the F-1 in our system. One thing we are sure of: the cheapest position in the GigaWatt catalog does not impair the sound in even very worked-out audio/visual systems. Regardless if we attached a full home cinema system, composed of an LCD screen, amplifier tuner and DVD player or a high class stereo system, we did not feel any negative influence on their performance. In contrary – with every hour spent on listening, the more we were sure that the PF-1 works. It could be felt by sharper space delineation and crisper sound in the whole frequency range.”

“Getting this relatively raw & unplugged a sonic delivery from the Pole with comprehensive protection insurance was unexpected but most advantageous.”

“The acid test: Having in the ModWright deliberately chosen my beefiest specimen, how would the GigaWatt survive being compared against raw utility power? Exceptionally well. It was noticeably superior. The PF-2 delivered higher resolution which in this context suggested a lower noise floor. Wall direct was fuzzier, duller, opaque and somewhat hooded. Even bass was weaker, less defined and more portly/soggy. Reverting to the GigaWatt upped crispness and definition factor without—and this was key—introducing nervousness, brightness or that hyper focus of etchiness. The soundstage with its layers was more illuminated and developed.”

“The Polish power strip was unambiguously better. At this juncture I became convinced that Adam Szubert really knew his job. Substituting his copper power cord with a silver/gold Crystal Cable Ultra merely drove that nail home [above]. The Crystal cord moved things into lighter leaner more lit-up turf and with that introduced a small touch of what now seemed artificial glinting in the upper midrange. Without wishing to support urban myths, this did follow common preconceptions on the ‘sound of silver’. Let it suffice that I preferred GigaWatt’s own (and far cheaper) cord.”

“What I do know is that the combo of 6-outlet power strip and power cord for all of €1.290 did not have me lust after the far costlier Walker Audio Velocitor S. In a context of equivalently good but different pace setter performance for the GigaWatt—more suitable to my present system needs in fact—peace of mind from protection against catastrophic surges seems thrown in for free.”

“My first exposure to the Polish GigaWatt company now set to conquer the Americas mirrors the esteem my colleague at the helm of HighFidelity.pl has for it. Clearly patriotism did not get the better of Wojciech.”

“Minus the snazzy—some might say misleading—marketing terms, magic dust and signal cables, GigaWatt might be viewed as Europe’s answer to Shunyata Research. This heats up the competition in the serious sector of this component category. The discerning consumer wins with more options, here specifically between the Shunyata Guardian Pro Model-6, BPT’s Pure Power Center and GigaWatt’s PF-2.”

“For Poland and music lovers first there were Fryderyk Chopin and Henryk Wieniawski in the 19th century, Henryk Gorecki and Witold Lutosławski in the 20th. Hifi fans can now add GigaWatt for the 21st. That’s the global village concept in action. Bravo!”

“With Gigawatt the sound of my system became, not more palpable, but more natural. It was like stepping closer to the stage. Being closer to the musical event, have the performers at the touch of your hand by having better seats on the auditorium. To date, I had a similar effect only with some tube amplifiers like the Air Tight ATM-1s.”

“Music was one condensed, homogeneous and complete whole, but one, in which you could effortlessly follow the individual instruments. “Foo Foo” boiled with energy and joy. The solos of Benny Rietveld on the bass, of the ones Carlos made, sounded in such a way, that sitting still without moving your limbs was close to impossible.”

“In general Gigawatt puts more weight to the sound, but at the same time it causes no darkening. It is just that after plugging the PF-2 in our system we not only hear, but also feel more of what is happening in the lower registers. Readability, diversity and rhythmics of this subrange also increases. It is important, and I’ll underline that, that the tested power strip does not try to beautify anything.”

“For dessert I left myself something symphonic, with a big “S”. “Also sprach Zarathustra” R. Strauss under Frits Reiner and “The Planets” Gustav Holst under Herbert von Karajan. Descriptions like ‘spectacular’ or ‘apocalyptic’ will be fully justified. The might of symphonic orchestras was not only heard, but also felt (and judging by the face expressions of my neighbors not only in my apartment). The listening session reminded me of driving a truck with a speed known from Formula 1. Nothing stretched, nothing boomed. If a kettledrum had to sound low, then it reached almost the Hades, and then immediately returned to make place for the strings, or brass sections, testing our ability of hearing treble.”

“The longer I listened with the PF-2, the more respect I gained for this product. I know, how little voodoo is inside, and that the effect is the result of thought through topology and proper current distribution. I am thinking how to write, that a power strip costing almost as much as conditioners from other companies, introduces changes comparable to changing the loudspeaker cables costing a few thousand zloty. And this was a very positive change. Of course at this moment, people not believing in cables, or not hearing its influence, may think, that PF-2 cannot have any influence, because this is the last meter after kilometers of cables on poles, in distribution rooms and in walls, that are far from being “audiophile approved”. But I encourage people with open minds to try the top power strip from Gigawatt in their systems. One final remark: if you do not want to spend any money, you’d better cure your attack of “audiophilia nervosa” buying some discs, otherwise your bank account may get thinner.”

“The vast majority of votes in favor of the GigaWatt strip is nothing peculiar. Since many years Polish manufacturers are successful in manufacturing conditioners, power strips, protection strips and power cables, however the GigaWatt strip stands out with very good craftsmanship and splendid protection circuitry, which will prevent anything bad happening to the attached gear (effective surge and overvoltage protection). But most of all, this is a strip, which will not ruin the sound of the attached audio system. It will not compress dynamics and not soften the bass. This distinction is even more interesting, because last year, the prize went to the cheaper strip, the PF-1.”

“The PF-2 power strip is not much larger than the cheapest model from GigaWatt, so we were not prepared for such a quality jump. This is really something special – a power strip that not only does not damage the sound in any way, but actually improves it. Progress can be observed in terms of dynamics and transparency. GigaWatt is a splendid proposition for all those, who want to protect their system and improve its sound, and for any reason did not want to go for a conditioner.”

Adam Szubert of P.A.LABS is one of those who believe that a success in building of audiotruth raises and falls with a feed of clean power. Though there is a lot of believers, only a handful of manufacturers has managed to seriously address the issue and even less of them remained serious (in terms of marketing claims) and sane (in terms of pricing) after their very first commercial success. I am pleased to introduce a company which is perfectly serious and perfectly sane: welcome to GigaWatt.

HOW THE SERIOUS POWER STRIP LOOKS LIKE…
“The PF-2 represents in the GigaWatt´s portfolio the highest passive power strip as more sophisticated units are regular power conditioners. In my point of view Adam Szubert found nice balance between overall built and functionality of the strip. It is hefty enough to please the audiophile in us and subtle enough for easy placement.”

“I liked couple of details with the PF-2. First, the quality of its assembly is top notch and exceeds standards of the industry.”

HOW THE SERIOUS POWER STRIP SOUNDS LIKE…
“The presence of the the GigaWatt in the system was readily identifiable. Music acquired a sense of more weight and I was receiving improved spatial information in all directions. Jeff’s voice was now supported by his body unlike before (direct-to-the-wall) when the sound of the voice had been created rather by his mouth than by his chest. Lateral stage became more relaxed and a tad more organized whereas the depth underwent quite a transformation – not that the soundstage was necessarily deeper but individual sources of sound were more distinct and it was more apparent that both the singer and instruments have a 3rd dimension, a body.”

HERE COMES ELVIS…
“Through the PF-2/LC-1 the track was nicely focused, the power strip locked the musicians into proper positions within the soundstage, not leaving them wandering around, like when the system was powered directly-from-the-wall. I was enjoying the same song over and over for circa 15 minutes when I disconnected the LC-1 cord and swapped it for the LC-2. Now, let me say, that I was not prepared for such a change! And it is not just a reviewer’s polite statement. Literally everything had improved; the instruments only now came alive and jumped out of the speakers with believable three-dimensionality and their separation in the soundfield grew significantly. While with the LC-1 we had a nicely defined chorus in the background, with the LC-2 there was no doubt that the chorus consists of individual people. The somewhat ´unisex´sound of the LC-1 became much more balanced tonally with the LC-2, the major improvement however was in terms of its dynamic extension: soft sounds became softer and more textured, loud sounds were louder without any perceivable limitation on the top end and richness of the song just filled the listening room with radiating warmth and emotions. Having achieved such a state of pure indulgence I cannot but assign my highest recommendation to the GigaWatt power system.”

FINAL THOUGHTS…
“GigaWatt offers such a solid base and improvement in the sound quality that the money we have to pay are easily justifiable. Honestly speaking, until now I have not come across a power strip that would be sonically justifiable (apart of the benefits of surge protection and multiple connectivity, of course). The PF-2 is the only such a device – to my ears at least – that actually brings performance of any audio system one level up without any notable side-effects. As said, just go and get it, but be prepared for one extra investment: without the GigaWatt LC-2 powercord you might be missing a lot. Audiodrom was using the PF-2 as one out of two power distribution units during our extensive power cords test, and, quite surprisingly, as we had many reputable wires on hand, the PF-2 performed always the best with the LC-2. Hope this piece of information saves you some time…”

LISTENING IMPRESSIONS
“Until now I dealt with only two strips, which improve sound: PowerTower and Fadel Art Hotline. Now I need to add a third position.

The PF-2 arranges the sound, as if the instruments would appear through its doing. It cleaned the stage and hung a black background, so it is not unusual, that the performance of the artists became more readable. Resolution, dynamics and space relations – in all those aspects sound became better compared to the wall outlet. Without any harshness, extracting details and proving anything forcefully.

Before the listening session I wondered, if the difference made by the power strip will be significant enough to justify the price of the PF-2; over one thousand Euros is not nothing for a distribution box. But now I do not have any doubts. This is a very successful device.”

CONCLUSION
“A further Polish product worth recommending. And this is only the beginning of the line of power products by GigaWatt.”

“A solid power strip. An audiophile power distribution box for over one thousand Euros, of Polish origin, must be a solid piece of equipment. And it is…”

“GigaWatt proposes 5 models of conditioners and two power strips. We liked the cheaper one very much, and our Readers liked it, giving it the title Accessory of the Year 2009 in our contest.”

“Compared to the PF-1 the 2 is much more solid and heavy. The quality of manufacture is brilliant, just like in the cheaper model. Attention to detail (very nice user manual, a phase detector as accessory, aesthetic packaging) should also be noted, as well as a million zlotys insurance coverage for equipment connected.”

PERFORMANCE
“Compared to the much cheaper strip, PF-1, which affects the sound in a very small extent, the model PF-2 behaves much better. The transparency of the sound stage is much improved.”

“We should also note, that the quality of the cable before the strip is not indifferent. The question arises: if we change the LC-1 to a better cable with the PF-1, can we get the same sound like the PF-2 + LC-1? The answer is no, at least to the extent of economic profitability of such a comparison. The PF-2 is much more transparent (and profits from a better power cable), reproduces bass more thoroughly and resiliently, and no compression is audible at all in the sound. It does not change anything in terms of timbre (…) .”

OUR OPINION
“Over one thousand Euros seems a lot for a strip, but when we compare the performance of the PF-2 to competition from abroad, or to prices of good conditioner, then it will turn out, that we cannot find anything better for this price.”

“The GigaWatt strip clearly changes the sound. Although my system costs a lot, I think that this is the level, where the PF-2 can show what it can. In general the sound with the GigaWatt is much more resolving, and at the same time more palpable, one could say “warmer”. This last statement is not fully true, but this is the perception of the changes at first.”

“(…) after unplugging the GigaWatt we get a set of random sounds instead of a coherent sound stage. I exaggerate somewhat, because on the long run the differences wear away, but repeating the experiment after some days immediately showed the same, and even led to a better understanding of the character of those changes.”

“Nothing is brightened, everything has its place, but under the condition that those, so different elements, are glued together. Unfortunately, the Audionova, at least in comparison to the GigaWatt, had no chance and showed everything is a kind of chaos, I mean maybe clearer – this is the mentioned emphasized midrange – but at the same time worse, with less defined attack and definition of the sounds.”

“PF-2 shows everything in a very coherent way, without departing from the speaker line, but giving more freedom to the sounds within their space, without making the impression, that every detail “lives” in its own world. And that was true for every disc listened to.”

“I confess, that although I am not a fanatic lover of peripherals like cables, strips, absorbers, etc, because I think that those are much too expensive, but I experience the need of using them. Like with the GigaWatt. This is an expensive peripheral, but if one hears how the system sounds with and without it, it will be difficult to sit down quietly. So I recommend not to try it, unless we are prepared for such an expense. Power strips of the kind of the Audionova or Artech, that I tested at the occasion, are inexpensive and work well, what means, they harm as little as possible. But they cannot do some things. Already the exchange to the power strip from Supra brings improvement, that is appreciated more when the system is improved. GigaWatt goes in similar direction as the Swedish products – the sound gets more organic, coherent, slightly warmed, but this comes from erasing the metallic “emulsion” between the sounds, from deepening them rather than from underlining any of the frequency ranges. It does not have a negative impact on dynamics, it even allows for stronger playing than with a common strip, due to the full transfer. And it gets rid of the slight underlining of the midrange, that can easily be mistaken for higher resolution. I think, that only the most expensive power strips from Fadel, a leader in this area in my opinion, can fight the PF-2.”

“For now I am fully convinced, that this kind of expense is fully justified.”

“The tested conditioner PC-3 left a good impression. Now it was time to have a closer look at the power strips offered by the Polish company GigaWatt. So we took on the more expensive one, called PF-2, which looks are already reassuring.”

“Devices of this kind do not always make us enthusiastic – power strips can be a good protection for audio and video devices attached, but the beneficial influence on sound and vision is not always there. In case of the PF-2 we noticed a significant improvement of the picture on our LCD TV. Not mentioning even a traditional CRT, where the 50Hz picture was as fluent as if it would be a 100Hz one.”

VERDICT
“PF-2 will prove itself in places we look for a solid protection of A/V devices.”

1PC-3 EVO
Audio Activity
Italy, July 2015

„As I had occasion to say to the Italian importer, it is unlikely that a number of components that are placed between the wall outlet and the audio devices do not impose their voice. In the case of the PC3 Evo you hear clearly a change in the sound; but it is immediatly obvious that the system becomes more quiet, so that a slight audible hum from the horns of the Davis Monitor 1, staying just ahead of the cabinet, has disappeared thanks to the PC3 Evo.

In other words, how the Gigawatt PC3 Evo changes the sound? In my system, it worked in the right direction, producing a “more human” sound, approaching it to the music as it is perceived in a theater. So, no dynamic compression (indeed, since the equipment becomes very quiet, you might hear some very weak signals that, in other occasions, are hidden by the noise), no major interventions that alter the signal, but just some minor modifications to the frequency response, which leads to lighten a bit the medium-low at the crossing with the mid, but leaves intact all what is between the deep bass and the medium-low. The top range is of excellent quality, although in its extreme part is certainly less present; while exalted a little the mid-high range, sounding as a modern concert hall, with audience around us.”

Positive Feedback
USA March/April 2013

Once I returned to my system for more attentive listening I noted all the sorts of things one associates with a good power line conditioner and it didn’t matter whether I played WAV files vinyl or the silver stuff. The goodness was more or less the same regardless of source. Most obvious was an overall reduction in low-level line noise that allowed for greater insight into recordings. Music playback became bigger, more immediate and also clearer, more intelligible and focused without any negative effect on drive and momentum. Textures were more realistic. Dynamics improved too. There seemed greater range between soft and loud. Drums and percussive instruments had more bite and snap and greater sense of liveliness. The PC-3 EVO also removed a mild electronic edge that was particularly noticeable on voices and strings. It’s one of those seemingly minor things you either don’t notice or learn to tune out until it’s reduced or removed all together.

However, the real surprise was in areas that I don’t normally associate with PLCs. Bass weight and articulation was superb and might be the best I have heard yet in my system, particularly from my REL subs. It’s not so much that bass was deeper but rather it was more visceral with greater pitch definition a more realistic sense of flow. Vocal and instrumental images were denser more robust and tactile. Timbre or tone color was more intense too. Going through my rough notes, “flesh and blood” was an oft repeated phrase. Overall the musical message was clearer, more life-like and more revealing of textures and nuance.

Gigawatt is most probably the best recognizable Polish Hi-Fi equipment manufacturer. The products of the company are exported to 23 countries over the whole world. Innovative solutions backed with experience in power devices, as well as very thought through development of their portfolio, led to GigaWatt being named at the same level as the most renowned manufacturers of power accessories.

In the catalog special role was always played by the power strips and conditioners, and the PC-3 EVO will probably be one of the biggest hits of the Lodz based factory. When we plug it into our system we do not need to think about what has changed. The effect is immediate, and the return to another solution – even if only for comparison reasons – painful. With the LC-2 Mk2 power cable the conditioner brings the sound of the system to another level. We have an impression, as if somebody would change all of our cables for better ones.

“The priorities were put very clear: dynamics, transparency and space. The increase of the sound quality after plugging the GigaWatt into our system was clear, and in some sense indisputable. If the sound stage would get closer or further away from the listener, everyone would be able to assess this parameter through the prism of individual preference. But here the change is based on the increase of sharpness of localization of the individual sound sources and better separation of the musicians from each other. The PC-3 EVO made the background darker, and the instruments – clearer, more realistic and convincing. The GigaWatt puts us in a situation, which does not leave space for discussion. If the sound is clearer, more dynamic, full of detail and truth, then it is better.”
“Near the end of the test I decided to make a small experiment and change the conditioner for a standard power strip and computer cables. The sound collapsed in such a way, that I could not hold it out for five minutes. You tend to get accustomed to something better quickly.”

Opinion 1
“When listening into the details, the differences turned out possible to discern. All that I lost on the previous changed returned. On one hand I noticed a bettering of the reverberation aura, vividness and length of decay; on the other I had the impression of improved dynamics. I know, this sounds very serious, this is why I want to clearly underline, that the changes were subtle, not comparable to changing an amplifier. But it is worth remembering, that they appeared after changing from very bad power accessories, which would not have been used by any audiophile, who calls himself with that name.
Yet the sum of all small things usually comes together into one whole, and this whole including the GigaWatt (and its power cord) was positive. To such an extent, that there was no return to the plastic power strip. The sound with the conditioner is taken as something obvious, and the return to a bad wire results in an anemic sound. A similar result can be achieved, including in a system a sound source of lesser quality. The GigaWatt was especially beneficial to acoustic music, where the most subtle reverberations are being followed, the sound of strings or timbre of an harpsichord.”

Opinion 2
“One might find this illogical, that if something is good, when it does not change much. But this is exactly the case with the influence of a passive mains filter – it removes what it has to remove, and if it does add something from itself, then not much. Transparency is a very desired characteristic. The sound became clearer and more resolving. I was sure, the sound gained on clarity. The definition of the lower octaves bettered; in the contrabass you could hear more the strings than the resonance of the body. The PC-3 EVO improved dynamics and gave a sense of greater clarity.”

“The result clearly contradicts the common belief, that all filters, and similar devices, devour dynamics. It turns out not to be true. Extreme signal jumps are reproduced with the same speed as when the device is connected directly to mains. Additionally, with the GigaWatt the bass became deeper and clearer, maybe because the component of interference got lesser.”

“With symphonic music, the spectrum of the instruments became a bit more visible in the midrange, and the timbre and shades of the vocals – richer. At the same time some nuances were pushed out, for example the movements of the violin bow, which were almost unnoticeable before. Chamber music recordings became more transparent, the second plane details more audible; opening of the mouths of the vocalists, breaths into the microphone and similar details. Let us agree with this, this is a very good compromise, as the main function of the devices similar to the GigaWatt PC-3 EVO is a kind of protection and safe connection of expensive gear in such a way, that it’s performance gets least deteriorated. And in this case this is successful in almost one hundred percent.”

“Also plugging in the PC-3 EVO to my system, well “supplied” in terms of power, resulted in concrete, unanimous modifications of its sound – for the money unanimously and indisputably positive ones.”
“(…) in fact listening to music with Gigawatt we do not engage in analysis of the timbre, but we look at the same musical material under a different angle, from a slightly different perspective. (…) The sound we get is closer to us, is more palpable and nicer.”
“This is audible best when we listen to Gigawatt comparing to some cheaper power strip, with a cheaper power cable – like with the mentioned Oyaide set. This is still a very good set, my second choice, when we are talking about expensive systems, but much lesser than the reference system. And compared that, we can really hear what Gigawatt proposes, and why it is worth to pay for it almost EUR 3.300.”
“The sound with it, in such comparison, seems cleaner and (yes!) more resolved. This is mostly the result of a slight exposure of the individual instruments, their “own” sound at the expense of the acoustic environment. This results in a splendidly shown, nice, dynamic piano in recordings so distant in terms of the way of recording and time as those from the discs Moon Beams The Bill Evans Trio and Songbird Eva Cassidy. The dark, warm disc of Evans sound slightly softer, in a slightly more open way, as if the instruments would be slightly embossed, slightly pushed forward. The already mentioned disc of Audiofeels (…) sounded in a very credible way, it could be heard, that this is a meeting of a few guys who met to sing (play) together, that there is a kind of tension between them.”
“The Oyaide seemed to be the bottleneck. The Gigawatt sounded in a more open and resolved way. It was also unanimously more “three-dimensional”, the shapes were shown clearer and more unequivocal. The change seemed not be big, but you listened to everything in a completely new, comfortable way.”
“The sound of the system is very vivid and “clean”. This cleanness is not clinical, what would mean in fact depriving the sound from the flesh, but it is rather showing the depth of the sound, its physicality. Were those voices, or piano or finally the contrabass, especially important on the discs of Evans and the Modern Jazz Quartet, with Gigawatt they gained depth and mass.”

“30 kilograms of weight clearly indicates, that we do not deal with a run-of-the-mill unit here. Inside we did not find any lead pellets, only technological advancement and high quality passive filters.”
“After long time of burning-in of the splinter new conditioner, we have started the listening sessions. PC-3 was used to power the whole home cinema installation, including the LCD screen. We are convinced, that the GigaWatt does its job well. When we disconnected the audio gear from it, and plugged it back to the wall sockets, we felt slight discomfort, that grew on us in time. The sound with the conditioner gained on directness and cleanness, became less nervous and more balanced. On the LCD screen we noticed more stable and fluent picture and much better sharpness and vivid colors.”

“As a product developed to work mainly in the pro sector, Sveda Audio Blipo monitors are very potent in revealing recordings’ mastering quality and any changes within a given setup. Their reaction to GigaWatt PC-2 EVO+ was far greater than expected. Shortly after switching from my reference power strip, the sound got beefier and perceptively also a bit louder, though I can’t say whether this was true as no measurements were conducted. When tracks loaded with strong bass foundation were on, it was very obvious that gutsier, more muscular and a bit lower downstairs than previously was the case. Let’s invoke “Sabrina” by Einstürzende Neubauten, Lorde’s “Royals” or “Gambling House Massacre” from fabulous “Zatoichi” flick OST. These recordings have well-developed bass lines and additionally extended heavier low end was particularly audible in each once PC-2 EVO+ was on the job. The same story repeated itself with low FR generated by real instruments, i.e. drums in various musical pieces by Wardruna, Danheim and KODO, but the list was far longer. Although recorded averagely at best, generous portion of “Celloverse” LP by 2Cellos showcased the same scheme with string instruments this duo is the most known for. Bass performance upped on several counts with no obvious trade-offs was the conclusion.Past the first hour of critical listening, the impression was that my PF-2 power strip was not only leaner, but also a bit feistier. This was audible especially with artificially generated bass, i.e. synth-made and not delivered via real instruments. Several tracks from “Ghosts” LP by Nine Inch Nails and then some by How To Destroy Angels – a side project of the same frontman – got me into thinking like so. Generous part of Trent Reznor’s work is above-the-average recorded and mastered, hence this observation wasn’t music quality related. That’s why for a good while I was certain that PF-2 held an edge over PC-2 EVO+ on the dynamic count. Not. The key to finding out what’s what exactly were – again – live instruments. Drums on KODO’s “Daraijin” track from “Mondo Head”LP are of various size and as such these deliver different scale and tension. GigaWatt PC-2 EVO+ was more generous as far as texturing goes and this on some recordings masked momentum in music. But with something as direct, agile and uncompressed as big Taiko drums, the Polish power conditioner easily bested its smaller sibling and the more I drowned in either minimalist instrument schemes or big orchestral pieces, the more and more obvious it became.”

“Although GigaWatt PC-2 EVO+’s potency in setups other than mine remains a mystery, one thing I do know now. Ordinary wall sockets were effortlessly bested by GigaWatt PF-2 years ago, which now has been surpassed by this review’s hero with similar ease. That’s the main takeaway of this review, hence if you’re on a lookout for a proper power conditioner from the ~ €3’000 realm, GigaWatt PC-2 EVO+ might turn out to be just the thing you were after all along. Bravo, Adam. ‘Till next time!”

“Sound cleanliness of the stereo system powered by PC-2 EVO + is amazing, it seems that we have improved the sound of each component of this two channel installation.

GigaWatt absolutely doesn’t limit the sound dynamics, and even improves it, because a cleaner reception of free of noise music, heightens the energetic potential of sounds coming out of the speakers. I checked it in two independent systems, where the first was based, among others, on the Accuphase E-270 amplifier, the second on the Hegel H80 amplifier – both amplifications gained above all for dynamics on both scales, as well as for sound clarity.”

“PC-2 EVO +, apart from the obvious role of protecting devices connected to the power supply system, has a positive effect on the sound, making its quality clearly improving. This Polish conditioner is currently one of the absolute world tops among brands specializing in the production of power accessories.”

“Power conditioners modify the sound in a completely different way than power strips do; furthermore passive conditioners influence the sound differently than active ones. Power strips vanish from the sound earlier, because they usually do not add anything to it. But equally often, they take away pieces of the sound. The better a strip, the less it takes away, and vice versa. It is different with conditioners. Usually they add lots to the sound, while taking away bits of it too. They are used because they give something no strip, and also no direct to wall outlet plugging can provide: a black background, incredible silkiness behind the sounds and smoothing out of the sound – those things cannot be found in simple power splitters, because that is the result of cleaning the incoming power. So the conditioners have a better sorted sound, but almost always with a slightly higher placed gravity center, cleaner, but also thinner. This made that what I got with the new GigaWatt conditioner even more interesting. Keeping things short – music seems to play louder and stronger with it. This is of course psycho-acoustics, the signal is still the same, but still.”

“With the PC-2 EVO+ I heard for the first time something, that alters the character of those changes. For the first time I hear saturation, density and a low, beautiful bass, which will be desired in many, many systems. The reference system from HF is very transparent, and even with that system, those were still assets, and not “only” modifications.”

Good because it is Polish? In case of Gigawatt this saying is more than true. In the PC-2 EVO model, instead of a separating transformer a multi-stage filter system was applied. This means, that we have kind of three high quality power strips enclosed within once chassis. Separate passive filters isolate from interference generated by the devices themselves, and in addition the conditioner protects them from surprises coming down the power line. But who cares? Probably nobody, but I would really recommend to remember parts of the description. When you hear, what is the influence on sound caused by the PC-2 EVO with the LC-2 MkII cable, you will need to justify the spending. The difference is comparable to changing standard loudspeaker cables to Nordost tapes. The Gigawatt introduces a new dose of energy into the music. It improves dynamics, clarity, stereophony and bass control. And if somebody who does not feel those descriptions should ask you, you can just say, that it protects that, what is best.

“It emphasizes on clarity and dynamics, clearly stating, that we will not be bored while listening. The impression is, as if the amplifier would get some extra watts, and the loudspeakers were freed from a thin veil, which we did not notice before. In the test the sound of the system became more direct, palpable and realistic. An yet the Tempo VI and Mac 6600 are a dynamic and well resolving set. The Polish conditioner moved the borders of its capabilities even higher. As if it “played more”, as one of my acquaintances said. The PC-2 EVO does not improve the sound by a little – it shapes the sound. It influences the sound of the system not less than cabling or change of the sound source. It has one, very clear goal – to expose more details, improve dynamics and stereophony, while at the same time not losing any timbre, if possible.”

“You could think, that the conditioner was upping the sound level a bit. The sound gains on expressiveness. After longer listening I come to the conclusion, that the Gigawatt achieves this introducing more silence to the sound. The musical background becomes darker, and the instruments are more visible placed against it. This is the reason, that each sound seemed to leave the loudspeakers with doubled power. A similarly interesting effect can be observed in stereophony. On first sight, the sound seems thinned. In reality, the contours of the instruments become sharper, so each one of them takes less space on the stage, and at the same time the amount of air separating the sounds from each other increases. Each source is better placed in space and better defined. The Gigawatt encourages the system to play with points and not burred spaces. Also the depth increases. Recordings done with the sound being placed close to the listener become even more intimate, those operating with a far plane move away from the speakers for another meter. The PC-2 EVO introduces another dose of freshness in stereophony and empowers the system.”

“The power conditioning devices from Gigawatt had always for me one main characteristic: fantastic craftsmanship. I did not know how they worked in my system, because for some reason I had not have the opportunity to try them out, but the external design and quality – a pure revelation.
“The inside of the conditioner was a shock even for an old hand: I have not seen such an order and such craftsmanship since the time the motorway to East Prussia was made. Symmetry, neatness, incredible solidity.”
“The sounds became better differentiated, the subtle micro signals became better audible, visibly the micro dynamics improved. The reverb aura around the individual tones returned. The impression of noncommittal banging on the keys of the piano or harpsichord disappeared, the musicians seemed to take more care. I had the impression, that there is some subcutaneous rhythm in the music, which became more of a whole. The decays were longer, the aura of the rooms, where the recordings were made returned to its rightful place. The individual elements of this improvement were subtle, but unanimously positive and the music clearly gained naturality after plugging in the PC-2 EVO.”Author: Alek Rachwald

During the test of the PC-3 SE EVO made the sound a bit more free than when using unfiltered mains to power the devices. The sound was cleaner and leaner without losing dynamics. The conditioner is a good solution to add quality to an existing setup. The upgrade by changing components will be much more expensive.Summary:
“If you want to get more out of your system, without the need to invest in new components – the best solution will be to connect the conditioner PC-3 SE EVO from Gigawatt to it. Neatly designed and ideally manufactured it will provide clean power for optimal sound reproduction.”

“Regardless from our expectations we note significant differences whenever the Gigawatt PC-3 EVO SE becomes connected to the home system. With clear superiority of the positive aspects. The words that come to mind are “control” and “panorama”. It just seems, that the amplifier gets more capabilities, which it efficiently uses to control the loudspeakers.”

“All details of the sound stage get more space and air, due to what, for example the vocals in the background, or second line planes seem more separated and better defined. Details, such as the saxophone in the piece Lomax “Days of 49” performed by Bob Dylan on the album “Self Portrait” have completely new vividness and nuances. This is only an example, as the tendency is clear, regardless of the disc placed in the player. It is also undeniable, that everything seems much stronger, what is best observed in the lower octaves. The real bass lines in different ranges come close to the listener, adding the music clear rhythmical substance. In short, the whole sound picture becomes bigger and flows more free.

At the same time, the overall sound picture increasing the panorama, expands to the outside in whole three dimensions. Due to that we perceive sharper focus and more defined holography.”

3PC-3 SE EVO

“PC-3 SE EVO came to me practically new, so needing burn-in and settle under load for at least a week.”

“What was my surprise, when from the first sounds I heard from my system, I did not notice any compression or blanket on the speakers. Changing the ECI-5 to a much more current-hungry KWI-200 also did not impress the Polish construction, and direct comparison with the amp plugged-in directly to the wall showed the Evo as the winner. What is going on? First of all, to date, plugging in Gigawatt cables or power strips made the impression, that there is a lot more of everything. More sound, more weight, as if an invisible hand would open a tap with music. With the PC-3 it was different. No spectacularism, no American kick and knock-out within the first few seconds. Instead readability and stability of the stage clearly improved, nervousness disappeared, especially with transients operating in the treble range. Also the articulation and differentiation of the lowest octaves improved. Sceptics and malcontents surely thought “Just that? No fireworks and exclamations of delight?” Well, sometimes small, at least on paper – as it is during a review, changes make quite a change of perception by the listener. The details are the things that decide if we perceive a sound as natural, or reject it due to not being compatible with the master encoded in our brain as heard some time ago – or even imagined. And Gigawatt brings us closer to that master.”“While the LC-3 performs great, changing the power cord to the top LS-1 mk2, costing hefty 6350 zloty, brings another, undisputed improvement. Plugging this cable into the Evo is comparable to what AMG does to Mercedes, or Shelby to Mustang. Maybe those are only “details”, and seemingly not much changes, but as usual appearances are deceptive, and if we do not think about spending the extra money on the conditioner and accessories, we should not even come close to the LS.

As with the standard set, everything was in its place, we could forget about compression, and while it could handle the Soulution power amp during the Audio Show, then the KWI 200 did not make it move a muscle. But something else appeared – better insight into the stage depth, more precise positioning of the virtual sources in the vertical plane, not only horizontal and incredible contour and precision of defining the lowest sounds.”

“In places where power is quite stable and sure (for example in bug cities), the main problem becomes the noise of the grid caused by computers, lighting or industry. This is very efficiently neutralized by the Gigawatt. The difference in sound between “dirty” and “clean” variant was clear in such degree, as if music was played by two different systems. Most important was, that the changes had the same character with a CD player as well as with the source being a computer and a DAC. When those were powered directly from the power grid, the sound could be described as harsh and ruffled, with stinging, unpleasant sibilants and slow bass. When powered through the GigaWatt conditioner the sound was absolutely neutral. The amount of details increased significantly and the tonal drawing of the upper and middle registers improved. In the whole mix the micro-differentiation of bass became more clearly audible.”

“The most important thing is, that the conditioner absolutely does not limit the dynamics and does not worsen the detail. In general, as a good filter should, it is only minimally audible – the sound becomes richer and clearer, it sounds better on the sound spectrum extremes, the details become better noticeable, vocals are more differentiated.”

“Similarly interesting was the power cable LC-2 MK2 – we tested it separately and the result was not unanimous, but when connected to the conditioner – the company cable turned out to be the best choice.”

6PC-3 SE EVO
Haute Fidelite, France, January 2012

“After connecting the Gigawatt to our reference system, we immediately achieved a significant improvement. Frankly speaking there is no force needed – we do not need to torture our brains to notice, if it works or not. From the first notes there is a satisfaction that causes a smile, which brightens the faces of the listeners.

The first impression is the very clear extension of the frequency range upwards and downwards. With the conditioner the system improves presentation, especially enriching the level of bass and sub-bass, what has a direct impact on the sound stage – its depth and saturation, as if the walls would be pushed outwards. The upper midrange was a tad darker, less shiny, but also less fatiguing, higher, richer and softer, what results in more air between the instruments, the sounds are better focused and better differentiated, less stirred. In the piece “Una furtive lacryma” by the vocalist Izzy, we have better fluency, sharper, but also more velvety midrange, at the same time more present and delicate. The voice gained naturalness, and its timbre is richer and cleaner.

With some of our reference recordings we had an impression of gaining dynamics, after a reflection, the volume is not changed, but the silence is more absolute, what gives music a more natural, dynamic character. The energy of music is expressed without slowing down, the attacks are clear and decays seem not to end.”

“Our very well-known system made a step forward and it will be hard for us to step back to its original configuration, as the musical coherence was just better. Everybody plays together, we gain on readability of the micro-sounds, the attacks are sharper, and the decays longer. When Monty Alexander plays “Calypso Blues”, the clarity and transparency of its piano allow to even more appreciate the way the interpreter plays. The instruments seems more true, with a harmonic richness.

For sure the conditioner Gigawatt PC-3 SE EVO is triumphant with almost all standard test criteria.

Quite a surprise was the ascertainment, how big was the influence on our electronics by the power source, which attached to our devices, allowed us to realize its full potential. Such conditioner is an essential part of good system configuration. Now it is clear, that the game is worth the effort, and the investment is well justified.”

“In terms of sound, the PC-3 SE comes ahead of the basic version of the PC-3 mostly in terms of micro-sounds, so in a place, where seemingly not much is happening. But when we listen to the timbre of instruments like a harpsichord, or acoustic guitar, then we will hear, that the more expensive version handles the reproduction of their nature better. We did not notice, like we did in the case of the cheaper PC-3, any symptoms of dynamics restriction – this is mostly valid in case of power amplifiers. It was even better with the CD player, silence appeared between the smallest sounds, and this did not happen at the cost of their reverbs. The borderline of their coexistence became better audible, what made them more accurate and better defined in space.

Also the GigaWatt PC-3 SE does not fail in a high quality video chain. Plugging a TV set into the conditioner resulted in immediate improvement in reproduction of colors, fluency of movements on the screen, while the background noise was vastly reduced.

CONCLUSION
PC-3 SE is worth to be called a hi-end power conditioner, but we should remember that in the company’s catalog we have an even more expensive model PC-4. However those, who want to power their system with a high class conditioner, and aim for uncompromising devices, and for whom the financial aspect is important, should give the PC-3 SE a try – it is the best evolution of the outstanding PC-3.”

VERDICT
“The SE version is dedicated to the demanding users. Higher class materials used in critical places increase the sound abilities.”

“The sound of PC-4 EVO + is very clear and natural – invigorating, like mountain spring water. The conditioner does not add excessive cold and artificial color to the sound, it reveals a clean, natural side of the recordings and equipment.”

“The dynamic fluctuations with PC-4 EVO+ are very fast, and clean. Replaying the “Danza Pastorale: Allegro” of Lu Siqing’s “Four Seasons:Spring”, the violin is light and sweet in high definition, the string group is dense and delicate, light and lively. Replaying the Allegro of the “Summer”, we hear the powerful stringing and squeaking of the hot sparks. The energy is abundant, and the powerful stereoscopic image is revealed! “

“With PC-4 EVO+, the dynamic margin is far-reaching. The bounce is stronger, the sharpness is higher, each note contains a richer level, the resonance structure is more differentiated, the mute details are better. And it is like if the sraight line was more straight. The beauty of the rise and fall!
I disconnect the PC-4 EVO+ and listen again. Everything came unpredictable!”

“When the full set of audio system is powered by PC-4 EVO+, the sound is not limited in anything. On the contrary – we get a fierce, full of vitality dragon. The lower registers go down even at the edge, they are strong and powerful. Don’t forget that the amplifier is a pair of Audio Research Reference 160M large monophony with 4 KT150 strong-release tubes per channel. This is the most complete energy test that shows how powerful the PC-4 EVO + capabilities are.
Replaying the “Dynamic Experience Classics Volume 1” “Stravinsky: Firebird”, the bass drum is still playing strongly. The drum skin is thick and tough, and the residual sound is vibrating. The energy texture is abundant, the tapping is vivid. A powerful group of strings harmonizes with the voices creating a broad, dynamically unlimited sound field with a simultaneous high degree of clarity, accuracy and balance.”

“During listening to “Case of You” Diana Krall, the full background became visible. The conditioner made me feel, as if I am taking part in a realistic, live spectacle. Behind the big, front plane, filling the entire space close to the listener, there was a clear, clean background, making the scene alive.”

“The vocal and dynamics were definitely stronger, than when the system was connected without the conditioner. The enchanting piano had also brilliant harmony and power. The amount of reverberation and decay brought the singing of Diana Krall directly to my room.”

“When I listened to “Agnus Dei” in Misa Criolla, the delicate expression of gradation bounced off the slightly washed out further planes. The sound of the instruments was detailed and obvious, and the harpsichord, which was heard to the right, transmitted more information.”

“Although the wideness of the left and right parts of the scene seem to be the same, the layers between the individual planes are thoroughly leveled, what leads to an incredibly stereophonic scene. The positioning of the vocals in the choir becomes even clearer. The harmony and climate of the whole ensemble is enriched, and the whole scene with all the nuances. Is the scale of dynamics more differentiated? The gradient is much more dramatic. The background is darker, and taking into account the brilliant imaging of this recording, the wideness of the changes can be defined as very big.”

“If you want to filter the power, “condition” it, then in a way Gigawatt does it. Its most expensive power conditioner is fantastically manufactured and does something like a “total cleaning” in the system. Treated as a full-fledged element of the system it will pay back not only with better sound, but by protecting it.”

I was a little reluctant to try the Gigawatt on my ATC P1 power amp because conditioners that work on high power amplifiers are like gold dust; in fact, the only one I’ve found (Isotek EVO3 Super Titan) costs a bundle and makes most power amps seem compact. But I was glad I did as the result was fascinating and not dissimilar to that achieved with the Class D amps. This time, however, the transition was from A/B to a Class A sound, so much so that I lost many hours to the charms of the resultant effects. Ultimately, connecting the Gigawatt to the ATC P1 power amp gave the sound an ease and finesse; an effect you would have to pay significantly more for than the price of the power amp and conditioner combined. Immensely revealing, beautifully timed, tonally rendered, and totally fluid, the effect was like listening to a powerful valve amplifier with very little in the way of valve character. The music became engrossing, and tracks like the bass heavy ‘Limit To Your Love’ [James Blake, R&S], which often overpowers the room, became pure and radiant.

I also tried the Gigawatt with digital sources, the Melco N1A NAS/transport via an Ayre QB-9DSD, granting the music a vinyl like quality – and I’m not talking about pops and clicks; rather, the music sounded cleaner and more fluid, and could be played at higher levels without discomfort, with brass still blasting out when it should. Connecting the already extremely natural sounding Ayre produced bigger imaging, full-scale soundstages with fine detail, and gave texture to bass lines that had sounded amorphous while making lyrics easier to understand.

I have reviewed a few conditioners and regenerators over the years and always had positive results, but pound for pound I don’t think any have come close to this. The Schuko factor is a pain, but it might well be something to do with the final result, so it’s a pain with gains in terms of resolution, finesse, and musical coherence. With the Gigawatt, hearing is believing if you want to take your system into another league.

GigaWatt’s system delivers higher dynamics than the Japanese one. Sound seems even more open with it. The proportions between mid-bass and the rest of the range are more accurate. A differentiation of the soundstage is better, and so are both range extremes. I also think that Gigawatt took a selectivity of my system at least one level up.

The biggest disadvantages of power conditioners is some limitation to dynamics they introduce for power amplifiers connected to them. Soulution 710 is particularly sensitive in that area as it is a particularly dynamic amp. Any change to its dynamics is always clearly audible. To my surprise there was no sign of any limitation with GigaWatt. What’s more, I was under impression that this power conditioner even further improved my amplifier’s dynamics. The Polish conditioner defines more precise images thus allowing listener to look deeper into the soundstage. On one hand everything that is happening in the front of the stage seems closer than usually, on the other listener can “see” deeper into the soundstage. It’s like the space between the front and the back of the stage became clearer, more transparent and that’s what allows to look deeper.

“GigaWatt is the first Polish company and one of the few, which we decided to award with the GOLD fingerprint. We award its all to-date activity, condensed in the best products – the conditioner PC-4 EVO (DCB) and the power cable LS-2. For us this is a real pleasure, for the company a commitment. We believe, this is not the end, but the beginning of the road for GigaWatt.”

“Gigawatt is free from the limitations usually bugging the conditioners. It does not damp dynamics; it even enhances it, especially in the micro scale. It does not worsen the contours of the bass – it cleans them and makes them sharper. We get better clarity. The sound becomes more vivid and the space clearer. We hear more, and we hear better. The Gigawatt is expensive, but quality has its price. And here the quality od the sound and manufacturing are really very high. If you are looking for a top power conditioner for a high-end system, then you should listen to the PC-4 EVO.”

“The PC-4 Evo should receive a diploma, the highest possible grades. It is the best Gigawatt conditioner by far, and the best device Adam Szubert created in his career. It presents the state of the art sound and has this nobility and charm – however those descriptions would not sound when describing a conditioner – which fit the high-end systems”.

“We get more clarity, details and energy. More differentiated and less noise in the sound, listening to which gives more joy. Inevitably we are coming to the statement, that the presentation became more musical. But can a conditioner be musical? It seems like it can.”

“The difference between listening connected directly to the wall and listening through the Gigawatt is very high, this is why the PC-4 Evo will stay in my system, until Gigawatt does not come with something even better. It will not be easy, because the “four” Evo presents a very high level.”

Conclusion:
Truly state of the art level of manufacturing and sound. The Gigawatt PC-4 Evo is objectively so good, that for the first time I am not missing the Shunyata. And that it is expensive, well… quality must cost. Please listen to it.

Haute Fidélité, France
February 2013, AWARD Haute Fidélité Référence

“… very clearly the with of the sound spectrum increased, both in the upper level as well as in bass. In both cases the sound presentation gains on depth and precision. The upper midrange seems less bright and less aggressive. With this conditioner the system definitely gains in creating the musical picture. The timbre was differentiated and rich. The influence of the PC-4 Evo compared to the PC-3 Se EVO (which we tested earlier and is already a very good conditioner) is something more than obvious…”

“The width of the sound spectrum does not pertain only to the richness of nuances and more saturated harmonics, but that what we notice immediately, is the release of dynamics on all levels, as if before the Gigawatt was connected, the power was suffering some kind of malnutricion.”

“This phenomenon is most visible on the most mighty, complex and dynamic signals, during the strongest attacks, but also on the most delicate nuances and details, decaying on the edge of perception. This increase in dynamics and micro-dynamics is accompanied by a deep, quiet silence, which allows for a fluent reverberation of long notes, but also violent attacks of the quick and sharp ones.”

“From the PC-4 Evo we get more space allowing for a precise localization of the sounds. The stage is truly panoramic and the sound has a great timbre.”

“The PC-4 Evo showed once more, that the technical capabilities of the company Gigawatt and the whole know-how, which should improve the sound of the system – they are truly huge.”

With the PC-4 EVO it was once again reconfirmed where one should start building a reference grade system. For sure, such a power supply foundation does not come cheap, in this particular case you will have to spend 6,490 euros which equals the price of a serious amplifier. Still, there are some reasons why such the investment may be easily justified:

Foremost, the GigaWatt’s PC-4 EVO represents the state-of-the art of power conditioners. It is more effective than any other filtering device that I have come across since I reviewed Accuphase’s PS-500 back in 1996 – that is in the last fifteen years. The PC-4 EVO provides more solid sonic pictures than my modified Nordost’s Thor power distribution system, more transparent, open and dynamic sound than PS Audio´s Power Plants and by far better connectivity than Accuphase’s brand new PS-520 or PS-1220.

On top of that, the PC-4 EVO is superbly built – should there be a single high end component that would survive the 2012 world’s end, the GigaWatt will be it. Thus, the next terrestrial population, that would eventually appear in future, will know how far the mankind got with the power conditioning. The PC-4 EVO is a guaranteed 100% Reference

SOUND “In my opinion these changes are vastly pos…

“Before this new power conditioner was installed, I’d already loved my system. But this is the high end. You get there step by step and not in one huge leap. That is also why the problem once identified doesn’t go away. Getting back to ‘normal’—used again to my own power strip— took a long time and a lot of effort. But I finally did succeed. I managed to forgot about the PC-4.”

“No doubt the acoustics surrounding instruments had become much better. That’s why the strikes at the edge of a drum on “Corcovado”, a piece from the We Get Request recording by Oscar Peterson, had more air around them with the PC-4 feeding the system. It’s a paradox but exactly why these strikes were stronger and more coherent with the rest of the sound. I think this is the correct sound – the one we should be trying to achieve.

The sound with the PC-4 opened up very nicely not because of increased treble energy. As stated earlier, from the first moment you have the impression that the upper midrange with the conditioner is smoother and darker. Despite that, everything is clearer, soundstage depth expands and so do the spaces between the performers as though everybody on stage moved away from each other so you can see them better. This hilarious effect of better clarity with a smoother top end was easily noticeable on e.s.t.’s Viaticum especially on my favorite track”The Well-wisher”. It is very warm and focused on coherence. Any extraction of details isn’t good because sounds start to stick to each other. The recording was mastered such that the sound is very dense and it has to be played with utmost precision to not ruin the whole effect. I think that my system manages it very well and I liked it before with the power strip. But with the PC-4 it got even better – much better. Better is a cliché like putting a pillow under your head but I can’t help it – better is what you get when using a PC-4 in your system.

Such “smoothing out” of the sound is something we can hear in the most expensive systems. Lately, Janusz, the host of the Krakow Sonic Society meetings, told me, that with age, with coming to the system he has now, he started to appreciate sound he found too dark, too dim before. Halleluiah! It is exactly what all of this is about – better, more resolving devices sound in an absolutely smooth and unobtrusive way. Of course you need to separate that from warming and softening, those are completely different things. The PC-4 shows, that warmth and delicacy are the characteristics of low distortion devices.”

“This is the reason why listening to my system plugged into the GigaWatt PC-4 was so satisfactory, so valuable, also from a purely informative point of view. It is hard to appreciate such changes from the beginning, changes that result from a “lack” of elements, which allow cheaper systems to perform better, in the direction of real sound. But when we mature, we have to face one fact: in reality sound is not so precise, not so resolving – it just “is there”. And we can approach this conclusion by following the same path the PC-4 does, at least I think so.”

“Just to make it clear, I am talking about really well assembled hi-end systems, even über systems. If the sound is too warm it will improve too but you will not get all the micro information the PC-4 offers.”

“Objectively the PC-4 is a step in the right direction, a great foundation for future changes in a system.”

“The advantages described will be present but they could fail to be decisive. On the other hand if you already have an almost perfect system that merely needs the final touch—or if you want a foundation for the system to build around—then you must check out this Polish power conditioner. There will be audible changes in quality, not quantity. The sound will change in the above ways but it’s not about how much is changed but rather, how it is different. The sound with this device becomes richer, deeper and more mature, definitely better settled between the loudspeakers. It is a beautifully crafted, audibly beneficial Polish design that one can be you proud to own. Maybe it is not for everyone by not always changing the sound in a way we like it but it is a kind of ultimate device – the one that can become the bed rock on which to assemble a system.”

DESCRIPTION
“GigaWatt’s PC-4 power line conditioner is a powerful device in an aesthetically, functionally and mechanically well executed chassis. It is one of the best designs I’ve ever seen except perhaps for the wonderful Accuphase PS-1210 or PS-510V.”

REVIEW SUMMARIES

In the opinion of specialist audio magazines the devices from GigaWatt are among the best in the world, both in terms of effectiveness and manufacturing quality, and even surpass the standards used in the branch setting new masters. This statement is confirmed by many reviews and prestigious awards given to GigaWatt products. You can find some of them below:

1PC-3 SE EVO
Hi Fi Einsnull, Germany, March/April 2016

Audiostereo, Poland, November 2012

4PC-3 SE EVO
Salon Audio Video, Russia, June 2012 “EXPERT’S CHOICE”

5PC-3 SE EVO
Stereo&Video, Russia, March 2012 „MODEL OF THE MONTH”

Hi-Fi Choice,
March 2009

PC-4 EVO
Highfidelity, Poland,
February 2015, AWARD: GOLD FINGERPRINT
